Primordial Light a.
A beautiful storm captured out at White Pocket on a crazy monsoon afternoon and just about peak of sunset. This is the first of three captures that evening.
I've been out there a half dozen times during the monsoon and finally captured some lightning out in these formations. Patience pays and this afternoon out there paid very well. With the storm moving right over White Pocket made for an amazing afternoon. All together I was able to shoot 5 nice lightning compositions that afternoon. Two were shot on Infrared monochrome. It was more than the last 4 years out shooting in just an hour lol.
It was a bit scary because I was shooting at 14mm and the bolts on the three shots were only a few hundred feet to about a mile or so away from me. It was exhilarating to say the least. I live for these moments.
The hair on my arms were doing a little dance and that is never good for ones health but great for pictures. It's such a thrill to be out there with the storms.
I had a bolt hit a bush within about 30 feet from me once in the the Sans Juans of Colorado that started with my hair dancing. It scared me half to death but hey I have to capture these moments and I love the thrill and capturing the decisive moments so cross fingers it'll all be good in the years to come.
I've been shooting lightning for over 40 years now and not stopping anytime soon. More beautiful shot next monsoon season and I can hardly wait.
It's nice when Mother Nature smiles upon me with some lightning. This is the first of three shots from the afternoon storm which lasted only a few minutes and it was gone. Really glad I had my Lightning trigger with me and fresh battery. It rocked!!!!
It was a great day!
